Deborah Carter has taken the long road to making the tech innovation pipeline more diverse and inclusive: specifically, engaging more girls, kids of colour and kids from low-income communities with tech education and skills.

As Founder and Managing Director of NewTechKids, she and her team are introducing tech education (computer science, coding, AI) and critical thinking about technology in primary school. Through PreparationTech, Deborah and her team educates high school students about how technology is transforming study, training and career opportunities.

Prior to NewTechKids, Deborah worked in adult education for THNK, the Amsterdam School for Creative Leadership, and PICNIC, a European platform for innovation and creativity. Before that, she worked for a variety of digital media companies, including Liberty Global and The New York Times. Deborah has a MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada.
